Advanced textbook · 6 units with worked problems

Foreword

This is an advanced biology textbook that studies life from the level of molecules to the biosphere. The topics are at advanced high-school and pre-university level: memorising terms is not enough — you are expected to explain processes by their causes and to do calculations.

Each unit opens with learning goals and continues with explanations and formula boxes. "In depth" boxes describe the experiments that show how science is done. Try the end-of-unit problems yourself before opening the solutions: the place where you go wrong is where learning begins.
