About this zoo

This is the virtual zoo of animal scientist Yaman Yağız. No cages, no tickets, no closing time: meet 41 animals from six different parts of the world.

Each animal's page tells you where it lives, what it eats, how big it grows and how safe it is in the wild. The Yaman scale compares each animal's size and weight with Yaman, so instead of "5 metres" we can say "4 Yamans tall".

Everything is written so children can follow it, but grown-ups will learn something too. Figures are approximate and vary even within a species. Conservation status comes from the IUCN Red List.
