Domestication
How people, over thousands of years, turned wild animals into tame ones that live alongside us.
What is domestication?
Dogs come from wolves tamed thousands of years ago; goats come from wild goats domesticated in and around Anatolia.
Domestic animals differ from their wild ancestors: they are calmer and used to living with people. The dromedary camel no longer exists in the wild at all.
